Christmas day is in exactly 20 minutes and I’m not yet in the christmas spirit. This is the first time I am celebrating christmas without my siblings, it’s just me, my parents and cousins. I’m feeling nostalgic.
In the past, Christmas in my house starts on the 23rd of December, we’d ve a mini christmas party where we invite our friends and give all of them gifts even when we didn’t get any in return…you see, giving out wrapped gifts isn’t really a thing around here but not us!😊. We saved all year for our party and had a compulsory dues of #50 every month. At the end of each year we got about #3000. My eldest sister and parents always made up the rest of the money for us.
We had carol practices and lined up according to our heights to sing. It was a very big deal to us and all our friends looked forward to our party.
We even had a name “the six blessed stars” I remember coming up with the name.
Duh! It was brilliant because we are six children and stars sounded very christmassy to me.
Uncles, aunties and family friends stopped by to do-us-christmas (dash us money to share) we’d normally save the money with our eldest sister, Goodness. But mum like all nigerian mothers collects our hard earned savings.😏 No kidding nigerian mothers all over the country will take money given to their kids this period. This wasn’t funny then, but I can’t wait to take my kids christmas savings and laugh in their faces (atleast untill they are 5)
Today I can’t seem to get off my resting bitch face.😏 I felt better while eating the fried chicken and malt Aletheia so graciously sent me, but snapped back after I finished eating it. I am very willing to eat any chicken, turkey or beef presented before me.
How’s your Christmas going?
Here’s a sneak peek at what I’m getting my family for christmas. Enjoy❤❤❤
Show love to everyone and don’t forget the reason for the season.
